No longer available as genuine Alfa Romeo Ricambi or from other suppliers, GTV6 enthusiasts have long wanted an effective replacement for the often broken, internal sunroof surround (bezel). Occasionally, NOS (New Original Spare) examples would turn up on eBay or the like.
Unfortunately, while these items looked reasonable they would, sooner rather than later, fail with use as the original did. The main issue was the plastic used becomes brittle as it ages.
Although possible to create a new reproduction similar to the original, it would take a significant investment and require many sales to be profitable at a price that would encourage the GTV6 enthusiast to buy one.
Motozane peeked outside the box and re-imagined what the surround could be or should have been.
Rather than a plastic replacement, aluminum was chosen. Aluminum allows lower stock levels with just-in-time manufacturing; the result is a less expensive solution for the enthusiast. Precision machined from billet aluminum stock, it is finished with a tough powdercoat similar in clor and texture to the original sunroof lever (note that there will be slight color variations due to age, wear and how regularly the sunroof handle was cleaned).
